Flying Fillies Hunt 2025 – Event Terms and Conditions

The Participating Hunts reserve the right to limit numbers, change the hunt venue, or cancel the hunt without refund due to adverse weather conditions. Any refund for cancellation or withdrawal of the meet is at the discretion of the committee.

Refunds for change of mind or change in circumstance will be given, subject to your space being filled and minus an administration fee of $20. Refunds will be provided after the 25th of May 2025.

Hunting is made possible by the kind permission of landowners. Please respect their property:

  • Don't clean out your horse truck/trailer on the landowner's property.
  • Leave all gates as found.
  • Remove all litter, hay, and horse feed.
  • Report any damage to the Hunt officials
  • No dogs allowed

For safety reasons, all riders under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult rider. All participants are required to attend the Pre-Hunt Health and Safety Briefing and follow all instructions.

In accordance with New Zealand Hunt Association, we ask that you please refrain from taking any photos of hounds and hares together, blood or trophies and uploading them to social media of any kind and also refrain from any photos portraying alcohol consumption.

SPORT CONCUSSION:

Concussion is a brain injury that affects the function of the brain and the person and may, or may not, result in a loss of consciousness.

There are several important features to highlight including:

  • A concussion is not always caused by a direct hit to the head. It may be caused by a direct hit to the head, face, neck, or elsewhere on the body with an 'impulse' force transmitted to the head.
  • Only 10% of concussions present with a loss of consciousness.
  • A concussion typically results in the rapid onset of short-lived impairment of neurological (brain cognition) function that resolves spontaneously.

Recently the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) announced new National Concussion Guidelines for community sport to take effect for the winter sports season in 2024.

South Canterbury Hunt Inc. have implemented the following approach to managing concussion:

  1. When a rider suffers a concussion, they must have a minimum period of 21 days away from hunting with South Canterbury, and
  2. Medical clearance must be obtained prior to a return to hunting.

It is recommended that riders wear a protective helmet at all times when mounted with a chinstrap fastened and adjusted so as to prevent movement of the helmet in the event of a fall. The fit of the helmet and the adjustment of the harness are crucial. The helmet should not move on the head when the head is tipped forward.
